State legislators who are equity and justice champions need to be resilient, especially legislators who are from demographics that have historically been denied access to power and resources. These legislators experience the pressure of working in systems and workplaces that do not value their contributions and talents and may not have the chance to develop the power or influence to effectively move a legislative agenda forward. |
OASIS provides support in 3 key areas: Well-being, resilience and safety; power & influence; and collaborative governance, along with a network of peer legislators can provide a more positive experience, lead to effective policy-making leadership and can encourage these legislators to continue their terms in elected office, enhancing their readiness to take on formal and informal leadership.
